Hi All.
Butch, to you, Vic, Leo and all the other M24 owners, You have a beautiful craft. I trust that you will have endless fun and enjoy the Magni to the fullest. It is always good to see that we can build out the gyro fraternity into one big family.
Go well and fly safe

Re: Magni M24
What a weekend for hangartalk !! Saturday it came down in buckets so Vic and I spent the whole day checking his 24 out from top to tail and corner to corner.
My dad had a 48 Chev Fleetline and my uncle a Hudson. They spent every minute together comparing the two cars and getting nowhere until my dad suggested that my uncle makes a list of all the things he didn't like in the Chev and my dad will do the same about the Hudson. They would then exchange notes , read them and then think about it... none of this " mine is probably better than yours ! " anymore.
Had a few surprises with the vent intakes into the cabin of the 24. It has two slots under the windshield in the front that leads directly onto the dash to let in ram air ... and water if you wash the gyro and rain if you happen to land up in an unexpected shower. The other ram air inlet is on top of the cabin. It lets air into the cabin right behind and onto your head if you are tall but if you are short the air goes over your head. Problem is once again that water or rain will accompany the air on its route to behind your head. One must be especially careful if the gyro sits on it's tail and you are washing her that you close the front vents with something as the water runs onto the dashboard and ... your instruments.
The more I thought about IT afterwards, it the more I wondered if those front vents can't be closed. Maybe we missed something?
Vic has decided to carpet his 24 as there is a lot of vibration noise especially from the floor boards. The cabin is quite noisy so he is considering some form of soundproofing between engin and cabin.
The space inside is a bit of a drawback. You have nowhere to put even a cell phone so Vic is looking at means and ways to build in compartments under the floorboards to be able to put "stuff". There are many ways to kill a cat and plans will be made ... watch the M24 mk 2 when it is launched ! Compare the M22 with the first narrow bodies we flew back in 2000.
The brakes are still Magni and not so lekka. The throttle/ brake contol is a bit squashed between your left thigh and the door. The off set seating places your pax against and slightly behind the pilots right shoulder. If he's male and you are that way inclined it should not be a problem but it would be a bit tight especially for flights longer than 1 hour, for guys weighing in at over the normal Italian sizes. Your wife / girlfriend will enjoy the "bonding".
In a previous life I must have had something to do with Henry Ford and disliked him. "Choose any colour for your Model T, as long as it is black."
I like to spec what I want , just to be different . It's a stupid thing I have. My M22 is the only one of it's kind around... check out the instrument panel and silver and compare with the standard M22 !
A choice of white or yellow is fine but ... it would be nice to spice things up with a little individuality.
Thats one of the things I liked of the RAF 2000. It also comes out in the colour and leather of your choice and what fun designs have been around !
Aparently the M24 flies like a dream, just like the M16 and M22. Vic's should be up and flying soon to proove Magnis claims.
I'm sure the factory is constantly working on improving the M24. Thats what experimental aircraft are all about. The new "side by side movement" in our craft and sport is really exciting . Gyroplanes have come a looooong way since the days of greats such as dr. Igor Benson and Juan de Ia Cierva . Now is up to the likes of Raphael Celier , Vittorio Magni , Eben Mocke snr and jnr , the good people at ELA Aviacion, Spain , the Germans at AutoGyro GmbH etc. etc. to keep this great sport of ours getting better and better and more and more appealing to all WHO LOVE TAKING TO THE SKIES !
PS Whirley , better check with the agents. I'm not to clued up about prices. I do know however that once you add radios etc etc to the 24 it is more or less in line with the Xenon. Put down the numbers and add up. Should be an interesting exercise.

If it wasn't for silly ICAO and rotorcraft regulations my registration would have been ZU-WWW

Someone previously made a very wise statement,
First go and fly the different machines before you buy.

Hi All.
The quote that Jetranger used "Someone previously made a very wise statement, First go and fly the different machines before you buy" is so true. If possible you should be an informed client. Draw up the requirements that you have, this should include price, endurance, usage, instructors, spares support, maintenance backup, available rated AP's etc. etc. If you do not hold a license, go to a flight school and get approx 5 hours worth of lessons. This is if you are in a hurry, otherwise finish the license. Then contact the different suppliers and go and fly the aircraft fitting your requirements. Open, tandem then go for ELA, Magni, MT-03 etc. and if you are looking for closed, side by side then fly the RAF, M24 or Xenon. This will ensure that you spend the money wisely and without regret.
All this has been stated numerous times before on the forum, but one needs to sometimes reinforce this again.
Fly safe and enjoy what you have, life is short.

Re: Magni M24
Hey Braam ! Gooi die Xenon syfers op die tafel ! I made a list of all the extras I have in my Xenon , all installed in the gyro prior to delivery and tested at the factory. When the machine arrived , it was ready to just spin up and fly. I went overboard by having everything added that Xenon offers as options , everything that opens and closes; so I paid top dollar/euro for my Xenon but I sleep very well in the knowledge that it was money well spent and value for money . Also bought at R 13.50 ( not so good at all and I don't sleep too well on this one ...) to the Euro in the bad old days a few months ago .This is probably my last gyro and ... ag man..why not ? " Kom ons doen maar daai ding en kry klaar ! " A gyro / any aircraft has always been a good investment. Flying is one way of enjoying your investments. So,an investment in the hangar beats the one in the bank ? At my age one is permitted to argue this way.( just kidding !! to each his own .)
If I had to add up all the extra goodies in my Xenon and things I would have liked to change or "improve" on a M24 , the 24 would probably have cost me more ( not taking into account the hassle of installing all the extras yourself. )
I know Xenon has a bare stock standard model which one can then add to but Braam is the man to talk to. I just fly this thing and so enjoy doing it. First long trip coming up in three weeks to check out the Namaqualand flowers. Can't wait! Will be fitting my Xenon ( optional extra) long range collapsible fuel cell to my tanks which will give me a total of 150 lts. ( 8hrs endurance !! ... ok, no butt can take that !!! ) but at least I don't have to organise fuel at those far and inbetween Boesmanland dorpies.
Will keep you all posted.

Jip ! I'll be shooting video and stills all the way down along the Vaal to Twee riviere at Douglas and down to Springbok in 2 weeks time. Then down to Vredendal for their fly in. Will have the Xenon and M24 down there.
