Hooray! so its all lekka legal and proper. Just the way it should be.
Thanks Rikus.

TV Coverage, huge positive exposure for our sport, the odd potential 'first' or record - all is well except if something bad happens - then the reverse will be true.
PLEASE do not take any chances whatsoever, PLEASE fly responsibly and remember, if there is any doubt there is no doubt - or if in doubt, don't. We'd much rather see you later again than not at all. Check and double check, if you get a little warning voice or sound, it usually precedes something far bigger. Be alert please.

and finally ... DO NOT FORGET TO HAVE FUN!!

This is Recreational Aviation afterall so lets have a joll!

Lekka excited to see and meet you all!

PS, a fly in to this area has historical significance and it might be fitting to recall one of the Pioneers of Gyrocopter aviation in South Africa, who was from this area, Llew Strydom. He designed, built and flew his Minicopters in Worcester in 1962.

Hopefully this miserable day will now end soon :(> :(> . Been looking forward to this day now for weeks vhpy vhpy . Planning and arrangements made to perfection, weather reports the last week didn't look good for me, but I am a positive person. Got up @ 3h30 this morning to start the long haul, gyro packed, fueled and ready to go. Met report didn't look good but I was positive and sure they made a mistake. Took off @ 5h00 too see for myself the big gap in the cloud formation that the clever Met people missed. I tried east, I tried west but nothing nada no gap and I wasn't prepared to do the scud running thing. Did a couple of circuits with 144 litres of fuel and five days of clothing and emergency supplies on board, just to ease the pain and to wait for the cloud cover to quickly clear up. Unfortunately this never happened and now I must rely on some expensive Boeing pilot to get me there. Hopefully someone can offer Tinkerbell and myself a flip around the pensinsula on Saturday to try and ease a bit of this pain. I believe most of the guys south of JHB did manage to get out and had an awesome tailwind to Carnarvon. Fly save everyone, hope to meet you with a cold one (^^) (^^) when you land at Stellenbosch.
I would love to post some pics but I am sure nobody wants to see overcast FAKT photos of a FASH fly-in.
Sorry Tinkerbell, I know you were looking forward to fly the peninsula yourself and to fly the trip home, next time.

I have to agree with MAC and Learjet on their statements. It is better to fly another day than make your last flight today.
Looking forward to seeing you two at FASH.

And the right seat in ZU-RJR is reserved for the other one (Mak or Tinkerbell) on one of the flights also. (perhaps the same flight even)

Well done for making it here anyway! =D*

Well, the weekend might have started miserable for me, but that was where the miserable part ended. What a great and enjoyable weekend to just talk, watch and fly gyros. To everyone that played a part in making this a successful and enjoyable event and all pilots that braved the unpredictable weather and made the effort to fly-in from all over the country, thank you.
How nice to finally put faces to names and opinions and to meet the personalities behind the avatars.
A special thanks to Paul for all his organization, Geoff and the Stellenbosch flying club for their hospitality and then to Len and Johan for their effort to promote gyros in South Africa and allowing us to take our rightful place in aviation, gentlemen, the gyro community are indebted to you. I think even the weather was trying to promote gyros over the weekend, when the conditions kept most other airplanes from flying and the gyros were playing.
Every pilot that made the effort to take curious bystanders for flips and especially Eben and Len for my flips, thank you. Glenn thanks for your offer, pity the weather didn’t give us the opportunity for a trip around the peninsula, we will definitely still take you up on the offer.
Eben I can now also say that I experienced PIO in the RAF. It stands for Pilot Is Optional   . Doing most of the flying, the downwind, base and final approach with your hands off the stick (I hope you didn't think I was flying) makes the pilot almost optional to me. I am sure she would have landed herself if you left her. Anyway, once again thank you.
Hopefully all the camera men and women would post a lot of pics to give others a small glimpse of what we experienced.
