Sad life you're having - no time for flying (**)

Ldel,
Work is interfering with my flying right now.
Imagine how it feels to have had the plane sitting in Braam's hangar since Feb... and I now have to wait another three weeks..
But I think the wait will be worth it.

Len,
You are absolutely correct. I thought I had it all planned... Craft was due to arrive in Late November.. Only arrived early Feb. I has planned my calendar for Jan, Feb and Mar to be free of all things... Then CAA tells us that The Xenon is not Type Certifiied!! So the story begins. Now that is semi sorted, they want Proving Flights of 40 hours....
Braam has been working his heart out here.. and as for me with a fully paid up machine.. I must say my patience has been tested!!!
All I can say is the "work" has kept my mind else where otherwise......(I retired last year, but still consult to my original Company, and a few others as well)

I had the same story when the Sycamore was grounded a few years ago over the "rotor hub" thing. I must say I liked that machine. I am just hoping the Xenon come up with what I was looking for.. range and a bit more carrying capacity, and able to talk to my passenger eye to eye. I really want to do some fly-outs with Sue (wife) to a few of the game lodges north of here (Krugersdorp), and other places. Would love to join Roelf (who taught me to fly these things) on one of his missions as well. The machine will be hangared at Krugersdorp (eventually)

I feel your pain/frustration Alan and empathise. My machine was just few days late and I almost had a stroke!

I also fully understand why you would be keen to fly this stunning machine. I am one of those people that wants and enclosed machine. Side by side is an added bonus!! Extra duration and additional carrying capacity is a phenomenal bonus. I use my machine mostly as an observation platform for touring around the fairest cape so I am content. I wish someone would bring out a reasonably priced 4 seater actually.

Although I am really happy with my Sycamore 'bakkie' I have been watching this thread closely because I am a Gyronut 1st and a Sycamore owner second. I will support any safe, strong, efficient machine in the interest of promoting the sport and wonderful hobby of Gyro flying.

I personally believe that Gyro development still has a huge amount of scope and if we all put our heads together and grasp the good and reject the bad then entire gyro fraternity will benefit, and thats the objective.

I would love to go for a flight in your machine one day, who knows, we might even be able to lure you down to the fairest cape with it sometime.

Happy fishing and safe flying!

Well it has finally happened.

A year after visiting the Xenon Factory in Poland, my new Xenon RT, ZU-CXU has taken to the air here in South Africa.

Thanks to Braam, who spent his "holiday afternoon" flying with me.

It has been worth the wait! With Braam and I, climbed at 500fpm at 5200 RPM.
I now look forward to many hours with my new toy.

Thanks Jetranger. I think Sue will enjoy it better now as well.
Must say we both enjoyed the Sycamore, just thought the side by side to be a bit more social!

Well done Alan !

I cannot wait for mine to fly next to yours on a good x-country, in great comfort ! Dinner is served on board, no champagne for the pilot !

See you soon...

Yes we will need to co-ordinate some good X-countries.
Looking forward to seeing yours in the Hangar.

Does it fly much different to a tandem, or is the conversion a piece of cake ?

Where will you guys - FD and VT - be flying from ?

Yes, It is slightly different. However, once you get past that, and that took about 30 minute things are fine.

The stick is absolutely shake free, and responsive. The lack of "wind noise" on the radio helps with "old ears" as well.
Having flown with doors on the Sycamore, where a lot of rudder was required, there is certainly less input required on this one.

Both VT and I are hangared at Krugersdorp. We actually share the same hangar.
