Huh-uh Pieter, ek dink gladnie John se post was bedoel om RAF uit te sonder nie. Ek het eers na Malcolm se kommentaar besef dat dit 'n RAF is in die Video - want dit was nie relevant nie. Enige Gyro wat so hard neerkom gaan breek!
Ek stem saam dat ons baie vorder met die verwydering van die 'myne is beter as joune' sindroom en eerder Gyro entusiaste is as wat ons tipe spesefiek konsentreer. Ons moet aanhou werk daaraan; Elke een het sy plek.
Viva Gyro's!

Good instructors always speak well about all flying machines.
Bad instructors speak badly about machines they cannot fly.

Re: Gyros burning after impact?
Now my post is being misconstrued.... Please read the heading of this thread! The video was a pure illustration of what happens to fluids when energies come into play out of your control...
Even though the gyro in the link I posted did not burn and that the fluid seen is water... so be it - now the guys can go and market their gyros as having it's own fire extinguisher albeit water from the cooling system - you see that's me being nasty now and brand specific! Come on guys - look at the bigger picture here...
The point that ANY and EVERY gyro pilot or owner (well any pilot for that matter) must take into consideration is post impact fires - POINT STOP! I don't care if you fly a RAF, MAGNI, ELA, CALIDUS etc the fact remains - the danger is there! If you feel sensitive about your brand, then maybe you become analytical and make sure what your brand specific dangers are. Your brand may not be prone to post impact fires but possibly other inherent niggles and dangers!
So what do we do to resolve this... To downplay another brand because you are sensitive about your own brand defeats the object of making safety of flight the core point of discussion here!

Re: Gyros burning after impact?
Is there any news on this topic from any of the manufacturers? As a keen fixed wing pilot I have done a lot of research on the Gyro concept and I must admit that this specific topic is a huge concern for someone who wants to enter the Gyro scene. I noticed that it was discussed as far back as 2008 and again early in 2011 after another Gyro burned on impact. Where to from here?

Welcome to the forum Willem... for interest sake, have a look at the SAGPA's website - http://www.sagpa.co.za/wmenu.php
Maybe the chaps from SAGPA or even Braam Hechter can give some feedback on the progress made thus far?
