Rip off

Postby jj le roux » Wed Nov 30, 2011 1:44 pm

So this is not new but I was again quite surprised by what we get charged for things, not just that but the difference in price from one dealer to the next.

I offered to shop for radio transceivers for a group of us after a radio course and found the price difference between dealers for the same radio to be as much as R920. In another incident a fellow gyronaut payed R2400 for a headset at Stellenbosch and I found exactly the same thing in Cape Town for R1240. Mmmm!!!

So yes you should shop around but hell if the margin was 10 or 15% fine. I'm not surprised that a lot off guys bring in their own from abroad and just take the risk in case of. I'm considering doing the same. I'm a firm believer in supporting the local guy but if that is the attitude out there sorry for you!! The interweb have made the world a rather small place.
