Re: Small Transponder
Please keep us updated. Joep wants to fit a transponder to his Xenon 'Lemoentje' and is shopping around at the moment.

Re: Small Transponder
Wow the Sagetech looks like it weighs next to nothing!
I've just installed a transponder to my M22, and although I previously had a Becker in my M16 which I was very happy with, this time I decided on the Trig TT21 due to its Mode S functionality and and future ADS-B compatibility.
The low weight (less than 500g) and built-in altitude encoder were the deal clinchers. The smaller face panel which is remote from the transponder box also made finding space on my instrument panel much easier and installation was quite straightforward.
Unfortunately the local suppliers seem to be ripping the price a bit (Comet aviation R21k plus
- and the last time I ordered a transponder and alt encoder from them they sent me a wiring harness with non-matching serial port lugs... and despite promises to do so they never replaced it
) so this time I ordered one directly from the UK instead and saved over R5k - landed cost!
Found out afterwards that the SA Magni agent also sells the Trig TT21 and his price was very competitive to the UK price so I'd suggest that Joep give Butch a call.

Re: Small Transponder
Ballito flys the Trig and all happy campers, some have done over 1000 hrs with student landings. Absolutely perfect, some good prices to be found in the UK at present. Trig had a supply problem early in the year which has been sorted now.
The installation guide is a well written book and they are very informative of detail installation. Use RG223 cable and route cables away from toys and all will be fine. The skydats and GPS 296 are not as user friendly.
see www.balaero.co.za for our project.
Trigs may be self installed without fancy test tackle.
We dont sell or install them any more as BMC was a in house project, I will write a guide to interference with them soon.

Centrifugal force in pure Physics does not exist, however this does not apply to Taxi drivers..
