Another Gyro down?

Postby Gyronaut » Sun Nov 07, 2010 3:12 pm

Just heard that there was a Gyro accident this morning.
No confirmed details but I believe both occupants are fine.
Thankfully.
Anyone with confirmed information?

November is not starting well. Be careful out there please.

Confirmed information is as follows:

Magni M16 took off with two souls aboard - failed to maintain positive climb (perhaps downdraft, density altitude, weight mis-calc - investigation will reveal) aborted takeoff at the end of the runway, landed hard, nose-wheel broke off and the machine pitched over forward. Ended up on its side on the runway facing back to the point of take-off. Very little damage to the machine other than rotor and prop - both occupants fine - Thankfully.

Says a lot for the structural integrity of the machine !!!!

Viva Gyro's.

Does anybody know where this happend?
Good instructors always speak well about all flying machines.
Bad instructors speak badly about machines they cannot fly.

I believe in the Eastern Cape from a private strip near Addo.
