DO NOT generalise. Correct the quantam is in pieces but thats because greg is doing a great job of putting her back together having done a beautiful "overhaul" - should be ready anytime now......The bantam has been flown extensively recently and in fact (again) will be making the trip to Zebula on Sunday - Depart Aeroden around 8.00 am. Does anyone feel like flying along for a little breakfast ??

Sounds great, but if you leave Aeroden at 0800 in the Bantam, you should get to Zebula in time for lunch???? ##

(hey, just kidding, I'm just jealous, at least you can fly, still no authority for me to fly  )

Peter B, I see your once hijacked thread is returning to normal transmission - the 296.

Until an affirmative shopper ## in Bantry Bay decided to relieve me of my 296 by breaking into my parked car some weeks ago, I was really enjoying this not inexpensive GPS ........ but ..... my 296c had a fight with an occasionally used frequency. yup, 124.8. I know that I am not the only person who had the interference problem, including on the intercom side, and I mean serious :x interference. I went to great lengths to try to resolve it, without success, and therefore try to get some small comfort out of the fact that having relieved me of my GPS, the affirmative shopper inadvertantly resolved my conflict problem. No 296, no conflict (**) .

I imagine my 296 is up for grabs at a flea market in the Sea Point area, so here is a real bargain prospect! vhpy
I bought a next to new 96c to replace it (R3500 in Avcom classifieds), and with the exception of a smaller screen, it does the same thing. Last comment on the 296 - someone told me that the B&W version has a better visibility than the colour, but I can't vouch for that though.

Good luck.

Hi Mikemat. Sorry to hear about your affirmative shopping experience
But at least somebody else is sitting with the problem now   I dont know if you had a look at the link Johan gave me on the Bendix, I must say it looks like an awsome tool to have. Im not sure how user friendly it is though. Johan seems happy with his! Mabey there is someone else on the forum that has some experience on the Bendix?

Hi Mikemat, It doesent really bother me(the highjack) as long as there is no mud slinging, I rather enjoy seeing people interact with one another and I must still meet the unfriendly one on Microlighters. every person with whome I have interacted with has been nothing but friendly and helpfull. I guese its my fault that the thread ran a bit off course because I started the joking and foolling around  At times I find it difficult not crack some sort of joke. Very weak point I have (^^)

Looks like the Bendix thingy is really fantastic value for money! Also with a large touch screen must make it very easy to operate in flight?
