Maiden Aeroden flight
Maiden Aeroden flight
Hi Guys,
On Sunday, FlyingFish, his softness and myself are planning a quick trip to Aeroden. This will be both our maiden flights to Aeroden also our first destinations since we got our wings.
Any pointers, advise, cautions etc that I should know about?
Thanks,

oops, , sorry. We will fly from Aero57.
I have done the Hartbeespoort dam flight a couple of times, even been out to Brits for coffee. So plan is to fly to the dam, over the ridge, turn west and fly to Aeroden

No funnies, just watch for traffic at aviators paradise. Think they had own freq but easy plan still shows 124.80? Also going over ridge can be a bit dauting low level, wind tend to be turbulent through commando nek...
Other than that enjoy...

Nothing to it - take off from Flo's head out towards the dam whichever route you fancy, cross the ridge stay south of Aviators circuit, (they dont have there own frequency so 124.8 it is) - call inbound a few miles out, join overhead - turn right hand downwind for 18, downwind checks, turn base then finals for 18.WATCH THE PHONE LINES on the threshold although they are clearly marked.. and then try and land quite deep as it it a long runway and if you land short you wind up driving 500 metres to the clubhouse.
Basie, Linda and Jack will be your hosts, they make a great cup of coffee and a lekker breakfast. I would have met you but im going flying of a different kind this weekend... (fly fishing)... such a lovely flight and a lovely area...
Basies Cell number is 083 triple nine three 8 4 two... in case you need to call for anything.
Safe flight
