NEW FLY-IN DESTINATION UNDER CONSRUCTION

Postby old no 7 » Sun Jul 06, 2008 6:24 pm

Hi All,
I've been a busy boy this week, building a few runways on a mate's farm in Groot Marico.
The intention is to also build a dam for bass fishing, a few log cabins and set it up as a fly-in destination.
The first runway (380meter) is already useable. I've been landing there all week.
The second (780m) is about 75% complete.
Both strips will eventually be grassed and fuel (95 Mogas) will be available by prior arrangement.
Contact me on: O8 two 822 four four 63.

I will keep you posted on progress on the accomodation. (You are welcome to camp and rough it in the meantime)
Some great flying in the area, Marico Oog, plenty game farms and a perfect stop-over for Mafikeng airshow.

GPS Co-ords: -25°38'1.48"S, 26°28'45.71"E

After a shaky start this morning with the weather and incorrectly entered gps points by myself I eventualy got to this lovely spot, really nice runways and freindly people. Did some local flying in the area to Die Oog a deep natuaral spring that is used by scuba divers and then over to Groot Marico dam to anoy the fishermen and back to "base" for a game boerie roll ($$) and sosaties. Thanks guys I'll be back next time with my sleeping bag and then I can (^^) too.

Hi Johnsa,
I've come to realise that things don't happen so fast on the plaas.
The damn is coming along nicely, albeit a bit slow as well.
Will certainly keep the Forum posted on developments.
