Quite a few airfields have weather stations that you can access via cell phone. How about everyone post the details here...

You send an SMS to the number on the site with the station code of your choice - it SMS' you back?

I did, to 36969.

The info coming back only has airfield info, no weather info

Please note that if Weatherword connected to the telephone landline adequate lightning protection must be provided.

Weatherwork also requires a 12 vdc (500mA or less) power supply.

The anemometer uses a reed switch, 26.6 pulses/min/mph with direction being a 0-20 k ohm pot.

This system would be connected to a landline or a GSM (cellphone) device. (additional cost)

My only concern is the reed relay used to measure the wind speed and to a lessor extent, the pot (variable resistor) used to determine direction. Both devices have a limited life. I would have been happier with an optical sensor for both speed and direction

To get weather data from Lanseria, send FALA W to 36969.

Sending FALA to 36969 will merely give you general airfield info.

Other examples of available categories:
FALA C will give you co-ordinates & radio frequency at Lanseria
RHINOP A will give you amenities at Rhino Park
FALA R will give you additional runway info at Lanseria.
MICROL H will give you hazard info from Microland.

The niftiest function is Balito nearest, which will send you the codes of the 4 nearest airfields to Bailto airstrip.
