Re: Flight area tips.
At port Edward our runway is 400 metres grass. Approaching from the coast you can at times get bumped around coming over the ridge. If I can handle it, anyone can. At times Approaching on 09, there can be a bit of sink as you come over the bananas. With a south Easterly wind, be aware op some turbulance opposite the hangars. Approaching on 27 one may also experience a bit of sink, and the runway has a slight slope down hill.
As for the rest, its the best.

Re: Flight area tips.
Great idea - just a thought. the administrator on the site can delete all post comments not valid (like this one), gonna prevent the tread size. Edit the post as well and make the post heading the aerodome or airfield name. Copy all the relavant info to one post, so that there is only one post uptodate for an airfield.
Nothing is impossible in life.

Re: Flight area tips.
Please could I ask that each aerodrome puts their frequency in their posts aswell.
Middelburg and lydenburg both do not have frequencies listed in the latest RAASA frequency chart!!! I learned this the hard way with my flight to hoedspruit.
Middelburg -- 127.95 has many gliders operating in the area, and these are cable launched, very dangerous unless you have the correct frequency!
Lydenburg -- 124.80 is somewhat deserted, but does have hangars there, and nice ones too. Big mountains around lydenburg but no real threats from my experience there recently. Very bumpy runway though!!

I see there is a lot of views on this site but not that much info.
A request: Everyone that view this site and know about/own an airfield/private strip somewhere and is willing to allow others to use it if need to, please post here. When planning a flight it is always usefull to have strips that you can divert to if needed. Nobody is going to "plak" on your strip they just want to refeul, piepie or run away from the weather. I always enjoys it if I get visitors/unknown aeries popping in. I am sure there is more.

Re: Flight area tips.
I live between Heilbron and Petrus Steyn in the Freestate.
I have 2 runways 18/36 520m long.Whatch out for the telephone lines if using 18 to land. They are from the tarroad to my house.
Runway 06/24 is 920m long and beware of the telkom lines along the tar road (R57) on rwy 24 and the powerlines on rwy 06.
I am not sure how the runways will be after the first rains as they were build in May this year. I fly a red and white Sling ZU-FYF and everybody are welcome to come for coffee or just landing for a smokebreak , weather ,etc.
The runways are very smooth and are still dirt runways as I waiting for the rains to maybe plant them some grass or something,or any suggestions?

Re: Flight area tips.
Hi Gents,
Does anyone have a list of ALL Airfields and their Radio Frequencies in the country? I mean the non controlled ones.
Anyway, even if it is not for all in RSA, at least as many as we can gather could be a good information for everyone.
Also the norms ruling the flying on each one.
Thanks
Mario
