Kroon Airfield :- Change of frequency

Postby IceAge » Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:36 pm

Just a note to all pilot's who plan to visit Kroon airfield (S25°39',500 E28°00,000) we now make us of 124.8 (platteland) and NOT 123.45 (chat) anymore.

The reason being multiple:

1) On the latest AIP SUP S054/09 chart the airfield is marked as being inside FAD129. FAD129's southern boundary is the N4 highway and Kroon runway is just south of the N4 (ie. 300M) we fly our circuit to the north, ie. runway outside FAD129 and circuit inside FAD129. It would be thus impractical to use 125.8 (Special Rules West) on take-off, just to change to 124.8 (Platteland) on downwind.

2) A lot of Bliks and Helis fly low level through our circuit and using chat was an incident waiting to happen. Please keep vigilent VFR when flying along the northern Magalies ridge

Fly safe
