Howzit Tracer,

Took me about 3 months, work and stuff getting in the way, only getting a hour in here and there and then a whole lot all of a sudden.

How is the training going?

Unfortunately, very slow  .... I am in a position to fly every day, if I want, but the weather, broken aeries and other students vhpy that also need to fly limit my flying time.

Not to worry,

Winter is on the way, and apart from it being a bit nippy up there, the weather is almost always flying weather, it's just too lekker.

I have also only flown about 5 hours since new year and 2 of those were a x-country, must get some air this weekend!

About 10 hours on 3-axis

Trikes generally take longer

I started my training at the end of Feb, so I'm just under 2 months. I have 8.5hrs and feeling the same as Tracer about the situation. We are training at the same field but I can only fly on sat & sun. Hopoe the winter scares the sissies away so We could get in some more HRS.

Started training mid Jan, went solo 8th April. Weather gets in the way, as does work! The waiting and training slots missed due to rain, mist etc can be frustrating, but its well worth the wait and patience!

The roll out action before landing, once you got that sorted, landing is easy

Hi Tracer,

I'm still a student gyropilot and went solo on 10 but there's no right or wrong answer to this question.
You're ready when you're ready. If you rush it, you may just miss that one valuable learning point that will one day save your life.
It's also advisable to learn in a variety of situations because it's no use training under absolutely perfect weather conditions and then one day you encounter severe cross-winds and don't know how to handle it.

Cherish this experience as it is a bit like school. You thought you hated it when you were there, but later in life may regret not taking more learning from that time.

Trust me, after your first solo, that feeling of urgency also gets a lot worse. I've been taking days off work to finish my licence.

Good luck and hope to see meet you up there soon.

I Agree old no 7,

Do you fly trikes as well.
If you do, do you prefer gyro over trike? And Why?

Hi MH,
No, don't fly trikes. Started ab initio on Gyro's. I dont have the OO's to fly trikes.
Although my dreams of flying started out with trikes in mind I was convinced along the way to go gyro.
I still admire you guys though. I think trikes epitomise the freedom and exhilaration which Aviation brings to the soul.
