A great movie, which must be lots of inspiration for old time pilots and younger wanabees!

The great thing about getting older is that you don't have to prove yourself anymore.

If the downloaded videos don't suit your screen, you can convert them to different format with it.

Sue, which damwall is that in the beginning of the video ? It does not look like Hartebeespoort dam. Is one allowed to fly like that over the Harties dam wall ?

That is Buffelspoort Dam . . . just to the north of the Concrete Tower!

I don't think that there are any height restrictions flying over Harties dam wall although a safe height is recommended. Many aircraft use this route to save climbing over the Magaliesberg! So, two things to be aware of when flying low over the Harties dam wall:

1. Keep a good listen out on 125.800 and 124.800 for other aircraft with similar intentions! If you find yourself at the same altitude and opposing directions to another aircraft overhead the dam wall there is not much room to manoeuvre! The Special Rules West boundary is just to the north of the dam wall (round about the Platinum Highway), so it can be that an aircraft incoming from the north forgets to transition from 124.800 to 125.800! I've had it with a low-flying helo . . . NOT PRETTY!

2. The gap in the Magaliesberg in which the Harties dam wall is situated creates a venturi effect and can result in quite staunch wind blowing through the gap even when the wind speed around the dam is hardly noticable!

'Hope this helps!

Hi Guys.

The low flying was solely for the purposes of ash-sprinkling and the making of the movie.

Cheers
