Renewing an expired MPL

Postby LeighFly » Fri Dec 10, 2010 11:49 pm

I have just renewed my previously expired MPL, (after 3.5 years).

Willem and the ladies at RAASA were very helpful in guiding my back to my now current NPL with Weight shift trike rating. When in doubt, ask Willem.

This has been a very painless exercise.

All I had to do was:
New class 4 medical
Learner pilot certificate ( student pilot licence)
1 hr min of dual instruction
3 hr min solo with 3 take offs and landings
Air law exam (online)( needed if lic expired than 24 months) (Tip: get the Ray Swales course, it makes any NPL exam very easy to pass first time)
Flight skills test with instructor
There is definitely a strong emphasis on instructor discretion throughout this process.

This all took less than a month and is well worth the effort if you want to get back into flying.

Just thought I'd share this with those that are contemplating getting back into the game.

In all cases, I recommend talking to Willem, as he is very helpful and knows what is required.

Cheers
Leigh
