HELP req. re MPL, training, costs, etc JNB region

Postby kb » Sun Jan 10, 2010 6:57 pm

HI all,

Ok, so some of you may remember me, haven't been online for a while, and also have not flown trikes for even longer.

Reason for the post. I had a friend call me, wants to do his MPL. TO be honest, I don't know if it is weight shift or 3 axis that he is after, but I am thinking weight shift. Possibly a CHeetah or similar.

2 Questions.
Where can we go have a "look" at carious planes in the JNB region? Just to show him the difference's.

Secondly. Which flying school in JNB, he lives in fourways, will be able to offer training FULL TIME, ie, monday to saturday, and not just weekends. He is on a tight (ish) schedule, and would probably aim to do approx 2-4 hours a day.

Whaty are the costs (wet) at the moment with instructor, and what are the minimum hours requirements at the moment.
As said, I have been out of it for a while, and wouold like to give him as much info as possible.

Appreciate your replies.

Hi KB,
Bring him to Rhinopark. Weight shift and 3-axis training from R485p/h (weight shift) dry. We do train during the week on demand. 25 hours min required but budget for 30. We do all the ground school lectures and radio license in house.

Hi KB,

At the Johannesburg Microlight Academy, we do full time training, 7 days a week from Panorama airfield (30 min drive from 4ways). We have 2 x 582 Raptors on the weightshift side, and an FK9 Light Sport aircraft on the 3-axis side. We will be getting the first production Sling into our school midle of March.

If your friend would like to come and see us, please give me a call.

Regards,
