Re: Challenger Approach
Yup you got me. Gregg and I are going out on Sat morning to have a look at the hangar. Pity we have to pay double for our parking space - will have to make sure Gregg parks in the back.
I should have the aerie up here next month.

Re: Challenger Approach
Mmm, I must admit that I was surprised at how "big" the Challenger looked in the hangar. We will make a plan though. I am considering making up a dolly for moving in and out of the hangar - the same type the guys use to move cars around workshops.

Re: Challenger Approach
Hey Dish - Gregg and I checked the hangar on Sat and it looks good (if your a sardine that is). I will reverse in on the right hand side behind the Cherokee and Gregg will park next to you on the left. Now I just need to get my conversion done and my plane up here!!!

Re: Challenger Approach
Yeah - its going to be tight - the one consolation i have with you lads being there is that we all have utmost respect for each others planes ! - I had a little hangar rash a while ago and no one could imagine where it came from, Huh, mystery, no one knew anything about the drying glue on the pitot tube - but its all cool now, Ians a good lad, you two are okay kinda okes and Werner is happy to move his own plane so we should be cool ...

Re: Challenger Approach
Except that I have to move the Cherokee every time I want to fly
I had to move 172's in and out of hangars in Canada all the time so its nothing new! Does limit you when you want to get away quickly! Guess I can't use my plane as a get away vehicle.

Re: Challenger Approach
Its a flipping Challenger ??? how fast did you think it was anyway my Booi ??? I also subscribe to nothing should happen too quickly in aviation.
- But Basie told me All we had to do was call ahead and Werners very happy to come down and move his own plane. Rumour also has it that veru soon the Cherokee will have a hangar of its own,... not sure of time frames but its in the offing... - who know what we will get then??

Re: Challenger Approach
On the test flight in Cape Town I was cruising at 100mph - the new LSA is pretty quick (in microlight terms). I will still need to get used to flying under 120 knots!! The aerie should be in JHB in the next 2 weeks - we are trying to get a temporary flight permit (the ATF lapsed).

I don't mind a little speed every now and then..

Re: Challenger Approach
Why dont you just renew the ATF ??? or is it easier to change ownership and get the ATF all in one ??

Re: Challenger Approach
No idea but the local agent is helping me. I have bought a BRS and it is getting installed this week - so we should be ready to rock and roll in 2 weeks time. I am busy converting my Canadian PPL at FAGC - write Law on Friday and will go for my flight test on Sat - should be ok...

Re: Challenger Approach
After looking at the photos of all the Challengers here, it seems that my one is the only one with a Warp Drive Prop? Is the De Necker prop that much better?
