Emosolo now in Training (Gone SOLO!!!!!)

Good Day all,
I imagine you all thought that you had lost me as I have not posted in a while. Well that because I have been flying. I now have 3.6 Hours of flying attached to my name and loving every bit of it. The school's trike is a Raptor. Not sure what wing, but has a duel ignition and 3 bladed prop and is 2 stroke and pulls like a daemon. Very responsive.
My first 2.5 hours have been focused on learning how to control the ml. 180' and 360' turns, Ascending and Decending. The stall. Tear drops to lineup on virtual runways(Dirt paths below) and when lining up being at a specific altitude and maintaining it using pitch and throttle combinations(The wind can knock you around a little when you are there so you have to respond quickly to maintain heading and altitude). Decending 100ft at a time and maintaining heading and altitude(During this we never got lower than trees dotted here and there). Speeding up and slowing down without change altitude.
Yesterday I did another 1.1 hours and the lesson got a little more interesting. Firstly, I took off for the first time, that was excellent! The air was very smooth and as such takeoff was great! Though the air did get choppy when we revised lower altitude maintaining south of the field. I also joined the circuit myself which was a little intimidating, but now understood when my instructor drew me a picture after the lesson. Did 1 joining circuit, 2 runway lineups and on the 3rd go around I had lined up and judged my glide path well. We came in about 3mph slower than what we normally would and then just like that we landed. Was cake, however I do admit the weather was in our favour at the time and it was freaking awesome!
Anyway there we have it, medical this week and flying again on Sunday(anyone know of a Dr in roodepoort/Krugersdorp who can do a medical? Oh, I am flying at Panorama with Marc Gregson.
Regards,
J

Went for my X-rays yesterday. The report said that my lungs are clear and normal, I suppose that a great leap forward in terms of my medical. My medical is book for Thursday 16/10/08. Does everyone feel nervous for this?

No. Class 4 medical is nothing serious. If you are young and healthy, don't use drugs and don't have colour blindness there should be no problem.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Yip, I'm colour blind - no problem. Apparantly can't do the night rating thing. Won't know if a plane is coming or going.Wargames wrote:Even if you are colour blind, won't change a thing for class 4!!

Morning All,
Unfortunately no flying this weekend due to insurance complications at the school. I don't think the weather would have held up this weekend anyway though. Will update after the next session.

Morning All,
Finally did some more hours this past weekend. Thank goodness for that. I am now at 4.4 Hours and have begun Circuits and touch and goes. Saturday did some low level flying, trying to keep the trike level 5ft off the ground at full throttle, which was a little difficult, but not bad. Sunday, circuits and touch and gos. Did 6 of them with only one arrival. Landing are pretty smooth so far, but Marc warned me that it could just be beginners luck and that I might have it going south of me again.
I got handed the Student license assignment which I need to complete, paperwork and studies are not one of my strong points, so I am going to have to put in some serious effort. I checked out the exams for PPL and if the MPL exams are as tough, I might be writing them a few times.
That's all I have for you for now.

Get yourself the Swales mock ppl exam cd. You won't regret it. The same exams you will be writing, and very explanatory. You learn quite a lot by working through the exams on the cd. The best R 120 I've spent. Will save you hours of studying.emosolo wrote:I checked out the exams for PPL and if the MPL exams are as tough, I might be writing them a few times.
Bought mine that time from the Swartkops defence club.
