MPL Training

Postby SkyHigh » Sun Jul 06, 2008 10:59 am

Hi All

My name is Clayton. I have been wanting to start flying microlights for as long as i can remember. I have 15 hours of my PPL, but due to time constraints as well as the cost of the PPL i was forced to stop. :(

I live in the south of JHB and im aware that there is an airstrip there as well as flying school. (kliprivier).

Is there anyone on the forum that is a member of that flight school or able to give me some more info about the costs of flying as well as duration of the course.

I would really love to get up in the sky as soon as possible.........

Hi Clayton,

Welcome to the forum 8)

As far as I know, there is no training at Klipriver, there is at Circus 2nm west of Klip adjacent the R59. (First t/o after the blockhouse heading south)
Russell Bird is the instructor, both trikes and 3 axis - cheetah. Give him a shout, he is "African Grey" on the forum.
Give me a shout and come down to the field and meet the buggers some time.

Welcome

Your 15 hours ppl will def help towards going solo fairly quickly. Typically to need a total of 25 hours, ground school and a class 4 medical. The costs are around R20k to R25K for everything.

Speak to Russel, and fly a Cheetah

Lastly

Have fun

Hallo Grumpy,

Yes, there is a tiny wee-bit of difference between the spelling of 'dop' & 'dope'........ The smell of the last mentioned, is more potent than the fruits of the 'brandewyn bome' from your part of the world.
I think some people got hold of some 'malpitte', if u read what they are posting.

Bly nugter en vlieg langer.............

Groetnis,
