Student Pilot License

Postby Barnstormer » Wed May 07, 2008 4:57 pm

Good people!

I want to send my "Application for student pilot license" to the CAA.

I have some challenges in this regards, could you please assist or advise?

It seems as the fee is R310?
This I will EFT. What reference should I use? It is simply blank on the form. Can't find it on the www either.
I plan to courier the whole bundle of documents. But to who? Should I just send it to the licensing department?

I suppose courier is the best and safest way. There are two different postal addresses on the form.

Going there myself is no option, I live 300km away. Going to "die groot stat" next week, but CAA opens late and closes early, bummer.

Thank you for your help! (!!)

Hi.
Don’t waste any more time.
Phone 012 997-2895.
Speak to Colette and she will do everything for you and send you the finished product.
Well worth the small fee.
Fly safely.

Graham.

Thx Guys! 8)

Spoke to Van Zyl Aviation.

Just for reference, you need to send the following:
2x ID photos
Yellow Medical Certificate
Completed Student License Application
Certified copy of ID
Cost is R310 and needs to be paid into CAA's account, use your name as reference.

Collette charges R110 for the work and R40 to courier the docs back to you.

I think I have already spent R360 in labour and R40 in telephone costs in holding the line for CAA  , so the R110 to Collette is a bargain!

Hi - yup I totally agree with you. I'm about to send my documents to Colette on Monday next week. Thanks for clarifying the details though.

Please clarify the payment method - if we need to pay via cheque, then who do we make them out to:
1) CAA = R310
2) van Zyl Avaiation = R150
?

I would prefer sending an electronic payment if possible. Thanks!!

Sorry for only posting today :(

Work tends to get in my way when it comes to flying related priorities :!:

Anyway, you can pay both the CAA and Van Zyl Aviation electronically.

The banking details for CAA is on the application form.
I don't have the banking details for Van Zyl Aviation, yet. When I called the dude said it will be on the invoice they send.

Greetings!

:) No probs. I contacted Colette this morning actually - she seems to think its easier to pay via cheque as they will have to first confirm an electronic payment before processing the documents. She recons this causes unnecessary delays.
R310 made out to SA CAA & R150 to Van Zyl aviation. I hope this info helps someone

I don't know why you are asking how to get your student pilots license. The school that you are going to do your license with sould do it all for you or at least tell you how to do it.
