Hi,
I am new to this forum and have read a lot of the posts here. I do however have a couple of questions and I hope you guys can help me.
Let me start by saying that I want to get my license for a Trike. I have always wanted to be a pilot, but the year after I completed matric and had to do my national service, there was no in-take into the airforce (this after I got the accepted to join the airforce). Unfortunately I was never in a financial position to afford pilots training. A couple of years ago I had to decide between getting my MPL and building a street rod, so I opted for the street rod (still don't know why). Now I am ready and eager to take to the skys so here goes:
1. When I complete the training and get my MPL, will I be allowed to take passengers up with me. Obviously I will only do this once I am confident and have trust in my own abilities.
2. I was considering purchasing a second hand Trike, but after reading the posts on the new regulation, that may not be such a good idea. I will also only buy the Trike once I have my license. Is a Windlass 503 a good trike to start with?
3. I may be going to New Zealand for a couple of year, towards the end of 2009. Does anybody know whether they do Trike flying there and whether I will be able to do some sort of conversion of my SA MPL?
4. I am situated on the Westrand (JHB). Have you guys got contact details etc on good schools in my area. I will obviously want to go do a intro flight and discuss the training with the guys there?
Thanks for a great and informative site, keep it up.

Yes - There are however many second hand trikes with 100 - 200 hours, only need to change crank at 300 and even that is debatable2. Big D,
Thanks for the reply and offer for a flip. I will take you up on that one sometime.
I must add that it will obvioulsy not be my first flight in a Trike, but it will definetly be the first one since I decided that it is time to get my license.
I will also phone Flo, as you suggested to get the low down on training.
