Hi Sias,

Thanks for the info. Scratched out the AIC 45.1. Requirements to fly in the Buffer Zone quite clearly stated there. Possibly not everybody is aware of the requirements to fly in the Buffer Zone. The fact that Petit is located in the Buffer Zone, and no procedures with respect to the zone being published (at least to my knowledge) creates a bit of a wishy-washy situation.

Personally I will continue to remain clear of the Buffer Zone, even if it means that I will arrive late for breakfast.

Arnulf

Thanks Arnulf, I will check-out the AIC, the buffer zone is obviously there as a safety factor. Although it makes provision for a lateral safety margin this should not pose any problem flying with a GPS with a Jeppesen map ensuring you stay clear of the JS CTR, not saying this is legal

The vertical separation is much more of a problem flying legally at 7500ft in the SRA and approach vectoring traffic at 8000ft - a 500ft separation with a Boeing passing overhead  my wife nearly jump out the other day  probably the reason why everyone flies at 6500  in itself a problem.

Keep well, Sias

True. If the approach controller cancels the approach speed limits, the heavy traffic can fly anything up to 320kts indicated. Not much time to take evasive action. Consider also wake turbulence!
500' is only a 16MB error on the altimeter.

Arnulf
