Student Pilot License
At what point during training does one get a Student Pilots License? Can one get it as you start training or rather when one is about to go SOLO? This is for Microlight training.

You can get it when you begin, but must have one before you go solo.Do it when you do your radio license-you need a radio license before you go solo.

Re: Student Pilot License
Thanks Nico. Are you saying that I can get a student license before going solo without a radio license? Do I need then another student license when I go solo with the radio license or does RAASA just make note of the radio license?

You need a Radio license before you go solo, and before you get your student pilot license-so do your radio license, then your spl,and then you can fly solo(if your instructor say so).

Hi KK,
Glad to hear we have another pilot in training Sir!
Unless things have changed since I did my license last year,as well as the above, you will also need your Medical certificate completed to submit with your student license application. A class 4 is the minimum requirement for a trike (I presume that is what you are learning to fly), probably best to get this done early in your training to make sure there is no medical reason why you cannot fly. Your flight school will be able to advise you where the closest Doctor is that will be able to issue you with a Certificate.
Fly safe and enjoy... believe it or not there will be days when you miss your instructor "kaking you out" from the back

Re: Student Pilot License
Thanks Bundy for the advice ... I have gone for my medical (CLASS 4), but do believe that I can only get my SPL once my instructor is happy that I can converse over a Radio .... I have done 2 lessons so far; training is done at Rhino Park. It is going a bit slow, but I am fine with the progress.
How does one master the subject content for exams? Suppose work through one module at a time??
