Skyranger NTCA Certificate Issued by CAA.

Postby Captain Biggles » Sun Dec 16, 2007 1:01 pm

SkyRanger in South Africa is now CAA approved under the NTCA Regulations for kits to be sold to budding Home builders aswell as Factory built aircraft...The NTCA certificate J15/12/540 was issued on the 27 th of November, 2007 by CAA after doing their Inspection with SkyRanger overseas....The Imported versions will all comply with the British BCARS regulations and will be only need 20 hrs flying for proving flight authority as a homebuilt...
The NTCA process is time consumming as well as expensive but unfortunately it had to be done....there was not otherway out...relieved it has now been done after 15 months of constant worry and hard work.....

The first updated Skyranger Swift has arrived and will be assembled shortly.....

Hi Clinton,

Well done!
You should be very proud that you managed to get it under the current circumstances!

I am just very concerned though about the expensive part...this will stifle homebuilding and experimental severely in SA. It seems almost all hope is out for the guy that want to build that unique aerie on a budget. Not everyone is going to spend money to get an NTCA airplane "certificated".

I just hope that sanity will prevail, and these "Expenses" not become the norm, so that our sport, hobby and passion can blossom and the person that want that unique different creation can do it, on a budget.

Kind Regards
Rudi
