Anybody with experience with in flight adjustable props?

I am trying to find a prop for my Raven - I was hoping to use an Ivoprop. 1000$ for an in flight adjustable prop is not a bad deal. As usual, they had some problems at the start, but all recent reviews seem good.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer says that the ultralight prop only works well at low air speeds (designed for trikes), and is useless beyond 130mph. He recommends the medium prop, which costs 2200$.

For 1000$ (only a few thousand rands more than a new wood prop), it was worth trying, but for 2200$ it starts getting expensive.

Are there any other electrically adjustable props out there? At a reasonable price, that is - I am not keen on R55000 for an airmaster! Or does anybody know of 2nd hand medium Ivopop hubs lying around?

It might be worthwhile looking at the WoodComp range of props (http://www.woodcomp.cz/en/sr3000-2.htm)

I saw one on a Jabiru 430 the other day and it looked great, BUT, I am not sure about the price, would be interested as well if the price is right.

Time do do some research.....

Thanks for the invite - it is a great crowd out at Rhino :D.

That Woodcomp looks really interesting. Since it has an option of wooden blades, it may be possible to run them direct drive on the VW, and save a couple of kilos!

Buy a P-Prop. You can always trust a tree. These electric props are troublesome. Not a question of "IF" it is going to throw a blade, just "WHEN"???? You want Ivo cheap?? I have one. NO GARUANTEE.

What model Ivo is that? Medium? Unfortunately the ultralight won't work.

The problem with your favorite boat anchor (i.e. VW) is that you have a lot of power available for take-off, but only at high RPM, so you need a very low pitch to get the take-off performance, and then a high pitch to cruise.

Fixed pitch works, but you can't get the most from the engine (and there isn't all that much to get in the first place!).

62" 3 blade elecrtric motor hub. Not complete. All 3 blades in good condition. LH tractor, faced in direction of travel. Will work on VW, BUT with belt drive.

I think the woodcomps are around 35k.

Does anyone know who (if there is one) the agent is for Woodcomp in SA please ?

Rainer will tell you not to use a Woodcomp on VW. Specially a direct drive.
