MGL CHT probes for 912s
Hi guys, has anybody fitted MGL's CHT probes on a 912s engine? I bought a set and would like to fit it but it doesnt look as if it will fit! the spark plug is recesed and there is no way that i can get the probe in. MGL says you have to file down the probe and the reces on the engine block to fit the probe? any advise?

The 912 has CHT probes already installed, on the front left head and the back right head.
When you set up the MGL unit you need to specify it is for a 912, because the probe type is different to the standard MGL unit. YOu need to set the guage to Standard NTC

hi greg, i've used the standard / built in probe but Reinier @ mgl said that you can not use the std / built in tyoe probe with the mgl unit (E3 engine monitor)? but i wil have another look at the setup on the E3.

There are different size probes from MGL. So just get the right size and bolt it to the same place as where the original probe sits. You don't HAVE to go under the spark plug.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

good idea,
Yes the original probe screws out, and you don't loose any water from the hole.

Re: MGL CHT probes for 912s
The mgl probe is a round ring that bolts under a bolt like a washer. So you can just unscrew the current probe - put the MGL probe under it like a washer and screw the original back in. the smallest size is a 10mm.
