Hello Guys,

I have been using the regular NGK plug in my 582 (Top Mounted) since I have it but I want to try Denso Iridium Spark Plugs.

Questions:

What Part Number I need to use for my Rotax 582 (Not Blue Head and my engine is Top Munted)

Do I need to calibrated them? Or use them as is from the box?

What advantage I will have using these Iridium plugs VS the regular NGK??..........BTW, I change them every 50 Hours

Is there is a chance I will see better o worst EGT, CHT o Water temperatures on my EIS using these plugs Or things will be the same as using the regular NGK Plugs

Any other advice??

BTW, I want to use them because the Denso distribuitor in my country is my friend and he say he will give me some free to try it. Also I want to know the part number I need in order to be sure he is giving me the correct ones.

Hiya TB, I used Denso iridium in my HKS, they are brilliant, I need new ones so can you post details of the Importer/Distributor please. Very, very good product and advised by HKS as standard now. They are expensive and cannot be gapped.

The only concern I would have is the HKS is a 4-stroke motor, whereas the 582 is a two stroke. 2-stroke motors require oil to be mixed with the petrol and it is this oil that reduces the life of the plugs (carbon build up, dirt etc)

What do these plugs perform like in two stroke motors?

Some interesting reading on iridium- this would explain the high price of the plugs(**)

NGK iridium plugs represent the ultimate evolution of spark plug technology and performance. The iridium center electrode is both stronger and harder than platinum. This allows NGK engineers to design an ultra-fine (0.6mm) center electrode reducing the voltage requirement for spark. This allows for a brighter, stronger spark from your existing ignition system. The ground electrode has a tapered cut at the firing end which reduces quenching for better flame core growth and increased ignitability. The combination of fine wire center electrode and tapered cut ground will increase performance, improve acceleration, and fuel efficiency.

In the past, when I've replaced the plugs in my 503 with the stock BR8ES, the engine would start easier (normally the first pull) and would run smoother. However, this performance increase would last only a few hours then the engine would start and run more typically... usually 2 or 3 pulls required to start, etc.

I've been using them for a long time. Brilliant.
Used to have something similar in my 2 stroke off road bike (NGK BR8EV) Once ran them for so long and so hot that the centre electrode actually burned away to a 2mm gap and it still fired strongly.
Have always used BR8EIX on my Rotax. Expensive though at about R90.00 each

Second answer: Of course not, because I never change them

I import them John. I've never seen them here in SA. Maybe someone else knows if they're available locally.

John and others, I did 200 hrs with a set, cant gap them so fit and forget. Thats why I jumped on the thread. If someone is importing please let me know as I have gone back to NGK plugs now. The HKS uses a Honda plug. I dont have the time but willing to pay up front with commission for a few sets. Would be good for a 912 as well as you cant gap you waste your time checking them.
