Cruise throttle position on Aquilla II

Now being on my 4th trike a reckon I can say than I have finally found what I was looking for (Unlike the U2 song).

Aquilla meets my specific needs and flies great, period - One thing that worries me is the close proximity of the choke to the cruise throttle - When wearing gloves I fear I might pull the choke in flight instead of the cruise throttle as they are directly next to each other underneath the seat

Anyone else have a similar concern or simple solution perhaps?

Learn which is which!!!

Anycase hope you are finally happy Big D! I thought the Gem was the best thing since sliced bread? (And the Airborne?) I flew with Brett in your old Safari Saturday - beatiful suspension system.... 55 mph hands off cruise.

The Windlass also has the same issue with the cruise throttle and choke. They used bicycle gear levers for cruise/choke. I got used to the "feel" of the levers - choke is notched so it doesn't move smoothly from closed to open while the cruise throttle adjusts smoothly. Haven't messed it up yet but flying with the choke on is a sure fire recipe for landing in the mielies.

Cheers,

Fanie

Howzit Fanie, good to hear from you vhpy

Did ol Brettie put the suspention to the test again  - Like it's not under enough strain already with Sharkboy sitting in it

Gemini is the next best thing to sliced bread, but Smiley won't sell her back to me

Reckon in a windlass without starter motor you will have to have some extraordinary acrobatic ability to restart in flight after pulling the choke by accident

No mielies where we fly - Lots of mountains, trees and water 8)

Hi Big D,

I fly a windlass with the same config as your aquilla. I don't think it is such a bad config as you have to operate with your left hand, and then the throttle is the easiest to get to. It is a better config than to have one on each side.

If you don't get the hang of it after 20 hours of cabbage patch, you can contact me, and I'll try and get that book called "Hand Throttle for Dummies".

It is just like getting a new car with the indicator switch on the other side of the steering wheel. Takes time to get used to.

Regards,
