ANY POSSIBILITY FOR THE 2200 85hp ENGINE TO RUN ON MOGAS LIKE THE ROTAX?

Hi German
I have the 80 hp version, and converted to 95 unleaded petrol last weekend..
The only thing Alex said I have to watch is for heavy black deposit on exhaust.
If that happens you have to install smaller jet.
I think that applies to the 85 hp version as well.
If any thing I will say performance is slightly better.
Regards
Johan

Hallo German!
Just a few thoughts:
1) Jabiru South Africa advise the use of Avgas only; however Jabiru UK and Austr state that the use
of Mogas 95 oct is fine.
2) There are quite a few Jabiru 80hp and 85 hp engines in SA running on 95 unleaded. Some of these
pilots advised to run the engine from new to about 100hrs on Avgas and then only switch to 95 unleaded Mogas.
3) I personally am hooked on William Penn Valve Ease. I acquired an aircraft with a Rotax 912 Xtra engine with 375 hrs.
I have a habit of turning the engine through by hand for a few cycles before starting. I noticed that there was a
marked low compression on one cylinder. I started adding this product to the fuel about once a month. After another
100 hours the cylinder picked up and all four feel (by hand) the same. This is my second positive experience of this
product.
4) I would run the engine on 95 if it has been run in - on Avgas. It would be great to hear opinions of aviators on
this matter as I am collecting my Jabiru J430 soon and would hate to make any mistakes
Also consider the fact that Avgas availability is becoming a increasing problem.........
Come on guys: What do you think?

I have run my 80hp jab motor for 1300 hours on 95 only. My blowbys are still good, i have had no problem with my engine. The Jab manual states that the engine may run on 95 and above. If you use 95 don't let the fuel get old in the tank. If it gets old it may loose octain.

The guys at the coast can do this. We inland sit with 93....
Would be great if there was an approved fuel injection option for the Jabs!

Here in GP we have 95 octane, been running my 2200A on that without problems, my manual says 91 or above octane.
Fly safe,
