Okay - i guess i will kick it off.. i have a micro - air radio in the bantam and its fantastic. Its easy to scroll through presets, easy to change frequencies, easy to operate and as far as im concerned a great little radio. I had an icom in the challenger, didnt find it as good...

What is the output compared with a handheld ICOM 23A?
Can a Buzzcom intercom be used?

Arnulf

I have flown behind 1 twice.
1st time I did not know how to work it and it was frustrating...
2nd time it was lekka, so much so that I had no hesitation in buying a second hand one on here...

Icom IC A210. Awesome radio, and the intercom is magic. Priced better too......depending on where you buy it and who makes up the wiring loom. Next plane will have one. Definitely. The small radio have "small" range as well, and I was not impressed with the intercom. AND it was overpriced.

Agree , my first thoughts and experiences with the Microair was that it would make a good toilet door stop. However after many requests from our Oz agent. I buckled and made a specially designed interface for it, (two years ago). I have only sold two in RSA but Oz we have sold many for mainly their local aeries and Airbornes. The main thing is to reduce the output Tx to 1,5 watts and sort out (disable) the intercom and use a mKhulu line choke as they pick up engine noise in a big way. Jabirus especially. If you have one they can be made to work well. If you dont have one buy a A210 !! or in a trike the Vertex VXA220 !! or the Funkwerk (Filser). We are making a Lynx compatible intercom for them and this uses a upgrade of the Lynx amplifier design.
