Hi Guys,
Wanna check if the gauge is "hooked-up"correctly.
What I see is:
On the gauge there are 4 connectors.
1 connector is marked "+" (12v power source)
1 connector is marked "-" (neg wires from both probes)
2 connectors (other wires from probes)
Help...

On the "K" type probes the red wires are neg and the yellow ones pos

Thanks Priester, but those aren't the probes that I got.
Can't seem to get the gauge to work...

Tracer, I do not notice a earth/negative connector. I do not know the instrument, but I think the one in red is your earth, and the other 2 connectors that you listed last, is for you probes. This might mean that It can only take 1 probe. How many can it take?? Where is your manual??

For now, forget the +12v connector. It's probably for the backlight in the gauge, if it has one.
Your EGT probes may have black/white wires instead of red/yellow.
Take one probe only and connect one lead to "-" (neg. wires from both probes) connector and the other one to any of the other 2 remaining connectors except the 12v one.
Take a gas torch or something similar (even a cigarette lighter if you have to) and heat the tip of the probe. Watch for a reading on the gauge. If nothing happens, reverse the wires from the probe.
When you get a reading, leave it as is and make a note of what colours goes where. Repeat for the other probe until you have both working.
The two probes will share a common "-" neg. and seperate "+" pos. although technically, they're not really negative and positive.
Ps. for this exercise you have to have the probes uninstalled.
Don't worry, you can't burn anything out or explode or trash anything this way, even if the wires are reversed. An EGT gauge is a simple millivolt meter. It's not dependent on electrical input, except the light source

This method is guaranteed to work, unless something is trashed ie. the gauge or both probes

You're welcome.
Hope you made a note of what goes where, including a sketch, and keep it in your flight folio or plane's logbook
