Chaps Just a word of warning with these types of connections, I have made a few up for customers using "pirate" connections from a UK company. They work and fit perfectly BUT as an example the eTrex series from Garmin uses 3 volts if fed directly and the Garmin 296 if used remote from the cigarette lighter has a current limiting resistor inside. If not wired correctly you will first see smoke and then flames !!! These tips are not always obvious with a first glance at them.
But otherwise its a useful tip Bennie.
