Can anybody tell me who the local importer / distributor of the HKS 700E Engines is. If not, can anyone who has imported one of these, give me an indication of landed cost ex Japan?

I see that Solowings lists the HKS engine as an option for the Aquilla - maybe they can help you.

I have also been considering the HKS as an upgrade for my trike but I don't know how reliable they are? Maybe somebody out there has some experience with these engines and can give some feedback based on hands-on experience.

cheers

Thanks Joninmoz, but on their website it makes no mention of the HKS option. I will give them a buzz and find out. By all indications it is a pretty reliable engine with very low fuel consumption. Also has an 800 hr TBO and according to HKS themselves they are looking at increasing it. ICP the manufacturers of the Savannah and Oribi (Bingo elsewhere) offer it as an option. Personally I prefer a 4-stroke to the 2-strokes. Consumption and TBO's aside it just sounds right. I wouldn't want to fly anything with a banshee howl.

I saw the HKS listed as an engine option in the Solowings advertisement in the latest Microflight and there is a short article in the latest SA Flyer on Solowings in which the HKS is also mentioned as an option.

Cheers
