In an emergency you can use any 2-stroke oil, but DO NOT mix synths with non-synths. Super Outboard is non synthetic.

Happy flying

Thanks Morph,

I managed to find some in Vanderbijl (Midas) @ R 269.90 for 5L. Took the last three.

Thanks for the tip, correct in saying that I can mix Super chainsaw with the Super outboard if need.

Cheers

Yes, if you have fuel in the tank premixed with Super Outboard you can put fuel in premixed with Super Chainsaw. Super Chainsaw is also organic and offers better high temp protection, since it is intended for high temps in aircooled motors but will work safely in the 582.

If you use an autolube, it might be better to drain the existing oil and replace it with a different brand. Mixing of Sythetics with non Synthetics can cause gelling to occur.

Take note of what Morph is saying. Chainsaw is for higher temp operating engines and offers better protection, even in lquid cooled engines.

Boat engines mostly run at lower temps than aircooled and close circuit liquid cooled aviation engines

My brother is co-owner of the Silverton Midas in Pretoria and is keen to help out, if anyone on the forum is interested.

He is willing to supply oil, spark plugs, filters, filter oil, Q20 or any other consumables on account - consignment - to someone who is willing to keep at an airfield to use/sell to flying mates. It will be at a good discount.

There is not really lotsa money to be made, more of a service, depending if you rip your mates off  and savings for yourself.

He will also give good discount to forum members buying from Silverton Midas. He is a keen enthusiast on anything technical, so if he doesn't have it, he will find it - except 582 cranks.

Some useless info on the oil.

One of the reasons Castrol and Shell battle to supply oil, is because of the supplier - guess who  of the plastic containers not delivering containers. Oil companies currently sit with a serious backlog.

Shelve price for Shell Nautilus 2 stroke 5l - R 132.00 - Castrol super outboard 2 stroke 5l - R 225.00 - same spec
