Can someone perhaps provide me with the model number (or type number) on the 12V battery for an Aquilla. Mine is on the blink and I know a place in Paul Kruger street in Pta where I used to buy batteries for my bikes, the exact same type number at rock bottom prices compared to that of the Agents.

Info will be appreciated, else I'll have to drive out to Kroon to go and check the number.

If you have the old battery, take it along to your nearest computer chain shop. The backup batteries for UPS`es cost less than half the price of an aircraft battery and they last longer and stay charged for longer. Their size and weight are similar to the factory batteries. Mine has already done 5 years and turn over and start the egine even after 5 months standing in a hanger.

Will try and see what battery I have (trike hangered 2 hours drive away from me)

With all your open spaces, why is your aerie so far from you? I presume that will be on your farm, lucky bugger!

Eros Airport to expensive to hanger. Trike at a farm (lodge - Karlsrohe) in Khomas Hochland, where we are in process of building an air strip & hangar. Hangar for two planes - My trike and a Wilga (yet still to arrive for the lodge operator). Is actaully about 1 hour & 15 mins driving).

If this Stadler lives in Hochland Park, we have met once or twice way back.

You are probably looking for a specific size motocycle battery. These are usually lead acid type but really expensive, probably more expensive than ordinary automotive battery.
Agrees with Carel, go for ups gel type batteries. They are about a third of the price, lasts much much longer.
You get lots of sizes, I use a 18amp 12 volt (Portalac) as it has screw connectors. You also get smaller but with no screw connectors.
18Amps is a lot of swinging power but this specific size is a bit larger than the ordinary motorcycle battery. I think Solo Wings has actually a larger battery box to accommodate this.

Also use a screw type battery and it is about 5mm in all directions bigger than the orginal battery. Fit into existing battery box with ease and still have enough ventilation space.

Another plus point is that they charge quicker than the normal batteries.

As said, they have a lot of swinging power.
