Duck.... heres a question for you

My 582 DCDI with Bings has been well running up in JHB region for many years... (eg approx 5000-7500ft) without issue

If i fly down to the coast or lowveld (ie Much lower altitudes than "usual" ) will i need to (at some point) change jets or do the carbs compensate for the change in ambient pressures

Regards
stan

Stan,
The Bings do not adjust themselves for altitude. You get "sea-level" jets and "altitude" jets. I cannot remember what size jet for what altitude, but sure Comet might be able to give you that. I think "altitude" jets are 158's and "sea-level" jets are 165's.

Thanks Roel

i thought this would be the case... is it common practice for the guys to stop somewhere along the route and re jet?

I doubt it being that critical.
The couple of times I went down to the coast, I changed them at the destination.
