Hi All
I have replaced the shortblock (582 Rotax) on my trike and now have to run it in. I have the correct run in procuders for this but what they dont mention is how to keep the Water Temp. below 80 deg. cel. while doing this. Can anyone sugest the right way? One sugestion was to fit a water hose to the cooling system, but wont the cold water crack the head?
or is it permitted to let the temperature rise to a certain extend while running in the engine?

I am not en expert, but here is what I've read.

During run-in never, never let any of the temperatures run over their limit, not even for a short while. If it hits the upper limit stop immediately, let cool down, and try that cycle again. How you treat your motor during this first run in, and first couple of hours, will make a big difference in the long term.

Does you 582 have a thermostat in? if so then I think it is ok if you expand the water capacity during run-in. How exactly I don't know.

Regards
Rudi

I need to do the same. I thought of blowing a "mist " from a high pressure washer truogh the radiater while running the motor. Not sure if this will work.

Best to call is Dave Miller at Solowings.

Just get in and fly the trike. Take your runin sheet with you and try to keep to the times specified.

Have you got the run-in sheet?

Yes, I have the run-in sheet vhpy , I spoke to the clever guys that do this alot and by the looks of it Kobus's advice is spot on. Will try to spray water on the radiators in order to keep the temperature at bay. Will let you know how things turn out. Thanks for the advice.
