Trike Choice

Postby Bayliner » Fri Jan 18, 2008 7:22 am

I am trying to make achoice as to what make of trike to purchase. I think the choice is between an Aquilla II and the Raptor. Both must have the Rotax 582.

I will be flying in Nairobi Kenya where the ground height above sea level is between 5500 to 6000 feet. I would be landing mostly on bush airstrips.

Is there anyone out there who can give their thoughts and opinions about the trike choice?

Morning.
I think you flew with me out of Wintervogel?
Both great trikes, if you go raptor, request that the radiators be lifted, prone to stone damage, wide tyres a must. The Aquilla 11 wing for the HHH, height , humidity and heat. A 4stroke if you have the bucks!
Didn’t help with the decision making.
Good luck.
Graham.

I'd go for the aquilla - They're after sales support is very good (i fly a Windlass) and they can courier you spares etc very quickly.

The Raptor is stronger (and heavier!) and a more robust trike but I have heard that support is sometimes a problem.

If that's your two choices i will go with the Aquilla.

It has good lift, and it's a really comfortable ride, if you carry a pax.

And yip, they have good after sale service unlike Raptor. I use to own a Aviate Aspect and know all about the bad service thing..... :? :?
