Is there anyone here that uses one?

I would like to hear your impressions on these units. Maybe a bit late because I just bought one but I would like to know what you think about them anyway.

If anyone has pictures of how they mounted it to a trike I would love to see them.

It's a great GPS, what else can I say! I tried to modify the yoke mount but that didn't work really.

I made a special bracket, using wood, that goes on the Aquilla pod thats at an offset to get the viewing angle right. I used the locking bracket from the yoke mount on the DIY pod bracket.

I'll take some photo's Tuesday and post them. It's a bit difficult to explain how it looks!

The only thing I hate about this GPS is the RF noise that it generates. I had to install a Vee antenna from Zulu to get rid of the noise on the comms/radio. It now gives me no hassles. With the original nose mounted antenna of the Aquilla you can forget about hearing anything on the radio!

Made a similar plan to Grubs for mine but used a piece of PVC pipe cut at an angle to get orientation in cockpit. No RF noise with roof antenna on Bushbaby.

You can see mine is mounted directly onto the pod with the RAM mounting system.
The bolt holes are the same on the bracket that comes standard with the 196. Real easy job.
NB, I have also fitted the V bunnies from Zulu to get rid of the noise.
The set up is now great.
Safe flying.
Graham.

I have the 196 and find it just a pleasure to use. I have it mounted relatively far away. It s on the base ob the banana pod, but the screen is very visible and don't have any problems using it. I do have an issue that when its run on battery power it spontainiously switches off:(

On the RF side I have only one frequencey that it messes me around on and that is the 131.1

I am going to try and get the road navigation system to work. For this you need to purchase the street maps. Has anyone done this and does it work?
