Fuel quality valves

I had a bit of a problem this afternoon. After landing and pushing the trike back into the hangar, I noticed a small drip, drip from the valve where you check fuel quality. As I tried to fiddle with it to stop the drip, the whole thing came out in my fingers   :o :o .

So now I've got a tank with 30 litres of fuel pissing out onto the hangar floor (better than mid - air I suppose) I eventually managed to get most of it into my jerry cans which were luckily at hand.

How are these valves secured to the tank, because there is no thread on the valve?? How do I get it to stay where it is supposed to.

Help please

I figured it out this morning when I had more light. It is held in with a circlip which is unfortunately made from normal steel so is prone to corrosion from any water which may sit at the bottom of the tank. This circlip had obviously corroded and rusted off. Luckily I have a spare tank, so I just changed them over and now I can fly again, yipeeee
