Hi guys I have re-built my 503 with new oversized pistons/cylinders and ground run it for 1 hour as per the rotax instructions,

Just wondering when could I consider that the engine is fully bedded
in to be able to carry out an accurate compression test.

Nick.....about an hour will do.
Check page 63 of the Rotax Installation Manual for the 503. If you don't have the manual, download it from here:http://www.ultralightnews.ca/rotax503/r ... manual.pdf

There is a difference between being run in and properly bedded. I would say arround 25-50 hr's for a two stroke and arround 75-100 hours for a four stroke. Just my oppinion.

Hi duck yes thats what I used to cover the 1 hour ground run,

but I was wondering how long does it take for the rings to fully bed in,

did a compression test after the 1 hour ground run and got 100psi cold both pots.

3 to 4 hours......Dont try and do long trips and not open throttle for a long time ....
The best way is to do a couple of circuits where you have dif throttle settings
