advice needed: what's the best radio?

Postby fly on the wall » Sat Aug 06, 2005 7:02 pm

i've been irritating my friends for far too long by borrowing their coms - looking for a radio but keep getting conflicting advice. icom-4 sounds good but is it still available? icom-6 i've heard has a power problem, accepting only 11v whereas the engine puts out 13.6v or something. any advice?

Google is your friend! The A22 is the NAV and COM one, whereas the A3 is just COM?

I use Yaesu. SImilar to Icon, but mine was cheaper ( then ) and it works great. I move it from various planes as backup.

PS
Fokker has Icom 4 I think. Rattex but no intercom. Also nice. Try them all out and go with what you like(ie have tested and know works) not what others say.
