Hi. can an alti be changed, migrated, morphed or forced from a inches scale to a millibar scale and if so, where can it be done and how expensive is it. it's either tht or I have to buy a new one at nearly 1800 rand. thanks.

Don't think that would be cost effective Gadget, I would print up a small conversion table and stick it nearby.

Agreed, not a cheap "Gadget" to convert, if at all possible :?:

Hi RV. Which aviation shop did you speak to? I spoke with aviation-engines and they said it would cost more than a new one and take about 4 weeks.

Century Avionics did mine on the RV. Just a new card scale I am told and not spposed to be a big deal. Maybe try Robin Coss in CT?

Gadget my mate

Call Aircraft Instruments 021 935 1702. They are in the Aviation Business Centre at CT intl. I bought a compass from them once and when I collected it from them I saw they had a full repair and calibration centre for all instruments. If anybody can do it they can. I figure it's just the little wheel that shows the inches that need to be replaced.

Yip Morphi
Aircraft instruments will def be able to help. They are one of the big boys in local avionics game... The card thingy attached to the wheel thingy(high techno speak so try to stay with me) needs to be replaced. it takes less than 10mins to do and they have these in stock. I watched mine being done. I assume it was a freebie as I had to pay for the GPS to get new Atlantic database added(R1500)

I spoke to them and the cost is about 850 to 900. the gentleman said the card is about 50 and the labour, two hours, is 800. still better than having to fork out 1800 for a new one. i will take it in during the next two weeks. thanks guys.
