Hi,

Does anybody know where one can get a fairing (ala P&M Qiuck and GT450) for an Aquilla? Can not get anything on Solowings website.

I believe solowings do make them, give them a call.recall seeing it on the website at about R5900 incl.look in the optional extra's page

Pity you are in Pta otherwise you could have used mine as a negative - I am told it can be be made for a fraction of the $$$ Solowings charged me.

Are they worth it?

Gadget (Morne) here at Morningstar is planning to do it from mine at some stage. He knows somebody who knows somebody's friend etc.

Harlequin (Graham) and myself have shared thoughts on modifying or getting a new fairing designed for the Aquilla which will wrap around like the Pegasus so that the passenger's feet is also in fairing.

I guess Solowings will also start looking at options to keep the local market.

It certainly feels completely different from flying without. I had mine off for a crack repair and felt quite exposed. Apart from that, you do not have the constant wind battered feeling, and have some storage place, can rest your feet when on handthrottle. But if you like the wind and exposed feeling I suppose it is not for you.

From a blik pilot background it def for me. IMHO it also finishes the trike off nicely. It looks faster and if it a red fairing it will def be faster

With damaged fibreglass????May amputate feet and ankles

Just a thought, I fly exposed but agree the fairing finishes the trike off nicely. Does it not make pre flight more dificult, I always check frame and structure? Now alot will be hidden.

I agree with gert, wont go without it easily, makes you "feel safer", less wind, bit storage ect but it does make the pre-flight a bit more difficult but you can still check everything. Will be cool to have a fairing like the cobra though - with a fixed floor and space to fit the pax feet and a instrument pannel.

Have a look at Big D's pic from the dam recently. Slops and shorts - he would always have a flightsuit on. Fairing is way cool and increases storage options and keeps them aerodynamic, tie downs can be used for inverted flight

But at the current price solowings charge I reckon wind in my face is my lot for a while yet. Who knows, maybe next year!
