Which anti-freeze would be good for use in a Rotax 582 coolant?

I have always used Mercedes Benz
MB Antifreeze & corrosion inhibitor
for both 2 and 4 strokes.
Mixed 70 parts MB to 30 parts water

Kobus, wees versigtig met antifeeze!
Rattex waterpump seals are notoriously unforgiving of abuse, a leak can ruin your day and if you do not notice water getting in the oil it will get expensive.
If it does not say glycol, it is not.
I only use Castrol GLYCOL antifreeze at 50% dilution, probably the same stuff Mercedes sells at twice? the price.
Very important: only dilute with real distilled water. Rand Water Board adds limestone to piped water to protect their iron pipes, but it deposits calcium carbonate in water-cooled systems which clogs radiators and eats rotary water seals.

Always used the VW product (anti Nitrate) with no hassles (blue in colour) running about an 80:20 mix to water. No problem with our local water quality as is.

VW have recently changed to a different formula (its now pink) so ill let you know if it comes up short on expectations.

Had two 582's that I cracked about two weeks apart. One with 150 hours and the other just over 300 hours.

The 300 hour one had used a green mix, which I believe now to be a cheap offering at Midas and branded with the Midas colours. It mixes 3:1. There was not a single scale or deposit in the water jackets.

The 150 hour one had used another product and even with half the hours was messy inside with scaling etc.

There is also a lot into using the distilled water - not the battery stuff but the hospital distilled type water. Don't drink it however.

I would trust Abe on the "water" thing - if any body knows about good and bad water, it's him!

And why not drink hospital distilled water? Apart from the cost?

I believe it will land you in hospital :!: With all the natural bits taken out of it, I believe it is almost like drinking poison.
