I note from the "RF feedback" topic that the following might be relevant-bought a Garmin 296 recently but has only operated it on battery power-buzzcom system.
Green Light "on"

Hiya
Th green light indicated that that particular frequency is "open" either receiving a signal or that the squelch is in fact open. I may assume that you have adjusted the squelch to close or extinguish the light. Try the following:
1/ Is the antenaa connected to an external antenna, if so face it slightly forward,
2/ Turn the ANL "on"
3/ Increase the squelch level so the light extinguishes, this may be caused by other electronic GPS systems, if you have a 296 then you will need some rf beads. However it is a Black art and can be tedious. I always win but normally a rf bead will fix it without other additions.. I swear by them. See previous threads regarding cutting cables.
try these first but not on plane power....or give me a call.

Power settings

For those interested parties, I can increase or decrease the power settings of the ICA range of radios. The ICA6/24 will go to a full 5 watts and draws 3 amps !! So if you have a paraglider we can give you about 0,5 watt output with long battery life and a three axis Microlight with a greater output running from the planes supply. This will match most light aircraft in performance at a much less price.
