AVGAS??

Postby kb » Mon Jul 11, 2005 2:26 pm

Hey all. Anyone know if it's safe / ok / recomended or not to use AVGAS (Rad label) on a 503?? If so, I would think it's the same oil mix as if I were using normal "car fuel". Have had a look at the manual, and can't seem to find it?? tks in advance

I have used a fair amount of Avgas in 503,582 and 618 rotax
I never had any problems and didnt notice any power decrease or increase
its just bloody pricey stuf- I only usded it on long trips where we landed at strips that only sold Avgas

Avgas is not a problem on the 503, You will have to inspect the plugs and clean if necessary every 10 hours. If used continuously, wear on the rings will increase by about 20% (rough guess)
