Upgrading Scout from a 503 to a 582

Postby Biggles » Mon Apr 18, 2016 9:06 am

I have been toying with this idea for a while. I am tentatively looking at buying a second trike to fly while I am in Namibia where I work. My bird in Cape Town is a 503 and I have been thinking I need a leeettle bit more oomph for when I am two up.

So if I get a 582 trike swap engines but my 503 on the Namibia bound trike and upgrade my main bird here.

What would be involved? Does it need a whole new set of mountings... Should it be a straight swap?

And importantly... will it be a significant upgrade and worth it?

Hi Biggles
I have done this upgrade! And yes it is worth it! There are a couple of important add ons..... after all it flies like a dream! I now cruise at 65mph at 5400 rpm. But winglets and weight to the front is needed!
