LED interferance

Postby Scorpio » Thu Apr 07, 2016 7:43 pm

I have installed 2 led lights on my wings to use for landing and taxiing. they
have a lot of noise interferance on the radio. is there a remedy for it?

I was told it results from lights not properly shielded and that it can be overcome by installing a ferrite coil as close as possible to the light.

The coil gets installed "in-line" or you get a snap-on coil going over the power cable.

I am sure you will get them at Communica.

Had the same problem after fitting LED strobes to my gyro several years ago. Tried ferrites without success - replacing the wiring to the strobes with thicker gauge wiring did the trick.
